The Windows version now directly uses Direct3D 11 instead of OpenGL (or OpenGL converted to Direct3D) for drawing portions of the UI: Timeline, Keyframes, Filters, and the video player.This is the first major upgrade of it since Shotcut started over 10 years ago with Qt 5! (Some interim upgrades did feel major tho.) It was a lot of work, but as a result: Qt is the main UI and app library (separate from the media engine) that Shotcut uses. In the Export window, select the desired file format and encoding settings and then click on the “Export File” button.Get the release candidate version 23.04.20 HERE Qt 6.Once you’ve added all the captions, click on the “Export” button in the top menu to export the video with closed captions.Repeat steps 3-7 for each caption you want to add to the video.Click on the “Fade” tab in the Text filter window and adjust the “Fade in duration” and “Fade out duration” to your desired settings.Move the playhead to the point in the video where you want the caption to appear and position the caption in the preview window.In the Keyframes tab, click on the “+” button to add a new keyframe for the caption.

Once you’ve created the first caption, click on the “Keyframes” tab in the Text filter window.

You can also position the caption by dragging it around the preview window.

In the Text filter window, enter the text for the first caption and customize the font, size, and color as desired.

Click on the “Filters” button in the top menu and then click on the “Text” filter.

Create a new project in Shotcut and import the video you want to add closed captions to.
